CHRISTCHURCH MARKET & LYNDHURST
With a drive through the New Forest
MONDAY 18TH MAY
Our day begins in the ancient town of Christchurch. The market is held each Monday in the traffic free High Street. Stalls sell everything from a variety of fresh produce to bed linen and clothing. The town dates back to the Saxon times and has golden sands on one side and the green of the New Forest on the other. There is much to see and enjoy.
Refreshments - many cafes and restaurants for both a coffee and lunch are available
Accessibility - some of the streets within the town are cobbled
Our second stop of the day is in Lyndhurst. Willian the Conqueror established the New Forest as a royal hunting ground in 1079 and since then Lyndhurst has been known as the capital of the New Forest. The New Forest Heritage Centre gives a unique guide into the history and heritage of the forest. You will find a variety of independent shops and plenty of places to stop off for afternoon tea.
