Poppy Factory Richmond

Poppy Factory Richmond &

National Army Military Museum

Tuesday 11th November 2025

The National Army Museum – Chelsea

Our first port of call will be the National Army Museum in London.

The museum’s five galleries over four floors tell a huge range of stories from the history and development of the army from the 17th century onwards. The different areas reveal individual experiences of life as a soldier, including the conflict they have fought in.  There will be plenty of time to browse the galleries and enjoy the displays and information.

NB The museum is next door to the Royal Hospital Chelsea, the home of the Chelsea Pensioners.

Refreshments – The museum has a café which caters for snacks and hot food, which will ideal for lunch at your own cost.

Accessibility – The museum can be entered via a ramp.  There are both lifts and stairs to the individual floors and seating within the galleries.

The Poppy Factory - Richmond on Thames

Our visit to The Poppy factory lasts approximately and hour and a half.  This includes a 30-minute presentation and a one-hour self-guided tour.  Discover the home of Remembrance and see how veterans still make Royal and regimental wreaths by hand.

You will have the opportunity to explore the exhibition and get hands-on with poppy making.

The factory which makes poppies and wreaths has been established since 1922. It has 12 Production Operators including 2 Special Wreath Makers.  They make around 100,000 wreaths and 250 Royal and special wreaths a year.  The original workforce was made up of former soldiers who had been injured in the First World War.  Today the factory employs veterans who have served in more recent conflicts.

Refreshments – Included in your ticket will be a cup of tea and a piece of cake.

Accessibility – There are low level displays and ramps to allow ease of movement around the centre.
