Flying Scotsman Steam Day at Didcot Railway Centre

Imagine travelling in coaches behind the Flying Scotsman engine and having time to take photographs whilst admiring the engine in the station!
All this will be possible on Wednesday 28th May at the Didcot Railway Centre where they will be holding one of their unmissable ‘Steam Days’
The iconic Flying Scotsman and the Pendennis Castle engines will be brought together on the 100th anniversary of their first meeting.
Trains will be operating on at least one of the centres two demonstration lines, allowing you the chance to have unlimited rides.
Apart from the excitement of these two engines, you will have the opportunity to travel back in time to the golden age of the Great Western Railway. You may savour the sights, sounds and smells of steam as you explore the 21 acre living museum with trains dating from Victorian times to the 1960’s.
The 1932 Engine Shed contains 15 preserved locomotives to view and coaches dating back from Victorian times to the 1940’s can be viewed amongst the Carriage Display. The Broad Guage and Transfer Shed has replicas of the high-speed trains of the 1840s along with reproductions of the primitive carriages from that era.
Refreshments – there is a picnic area if you wish to bring your own picnic lunch or The Engine Shed Café offers a selection of drinks, snacks and hot foods along with a simple take-away menu. Hot food is served until 2pm.
