Buckler’s Hard can be found on the banks of the Beaulieu River within the heart of the New Forest. This was once a thriving ship building village, where ships for Nelson’s fleet at Trafalgar were built.

This 18th century shipbuilding village is steeped in history from its beginnings in the 13th century when owned by Cistercian monks, to its time as a shipyard for Nelson’s navy.

There is a museum in which you can discover the role the village played in the ship building industry and there is also Buckler’s Hard village to explore, situated on the banks of the river.

The visit includes a 30-minute boat trip along the Beaulieu River, accompanied by a commentary which reveals the history and wildlife that inhabits its picturesque banks.

Refreshments – the Captain’s Table offers a wide range of refreshments.
